Q: What is a fanzine?
A: A fanzine is an unofficial magazine, or collection of content, that surrounds a certain theme or topic. They typically include art and writing.

Q: What is the theme for this zine?
A: Astralis revolves around the romantic relationship between Albedo & Kaeya from Genshin Impact.

Q: What are the specs of this zine?
A: This zine will be a physical and digital zine, and completely SFW. All profits will first and foremost go towards producing the zine and providing complimentary copies for everyone on the team. Any leftover profits will be evenly distributed after the project ends. We will be accepting 25 artists, 4 merch artists and 5 writers, including guests.

Q: Will there be AU content in this zine?
A: While we are tentatively interested in including AU content, this is subject to the interest of our accepted contributors. The amount of AU content within the zine is at the accepted contributors’ discretion.

Q: Are other ships or characters allowed in the zine?
A: Romantic ships that are not Albedo/Kaeya are not allowed. Other characters are allowed within the zine, however Albedo and Kaeya must be the focus of the piece.

Q: Who is allowed to apply?
A: Everyone aged 16 and above at the point of January 26th 2022 will be able to participate in the zine. Individuals under the age of 18 should have the approval of a guardian and can be paid through a guardian's PayPal.

Q: Are you looking for more moderators / intern mods?
A: We have already formed the full mod team via mod applications. We are not looking for intern mods.

Q: Am I allowed to apply for more than one contributor position?
A: Yes, although applicants who apply to more than one position will only be selected for one.

Q: Will everyone who applies get an email regardless of their results?
A: Yes, result emails will be sent to everyone who applies.

CONTRIBUTOR EXPECTATIONS

Contributors should be aged 16 and above. To receive payment, they should be at least 18 or choose to have money sent to a guardian's PayPal account due to PayPal’s terms and conditions. They may also choose to forfeit payment entirely.The rights of every individual piece belongs to the contributors, and this means they are allowed to re-distribute them, but only AFTER pre-orders close. They are prohibited from sharing any WIPs during the process / streaming their work progress, with the exception of contributor previews.All submitted works should be original, and created for this zine specifically. Plagiarism/tracing will not be tolerated.All contributors are required to have Discord, as it will be our main mode of communication.
What are the expectations for contributors?
+ Artists: Artists will be expected to create their choice of either a portrait, spread, or fic collaboration.
+ Writers: Writers will be expected to write one fic with at around 1.5k-2k.
+ Merch: Merch Artists will be expected to create 2-3 merch pieces.

APPLICATIONS

MODERATOR APPLICATION GUIDELINES

General Guidelines:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.Prior experience encouraged, be it in the form of a zine moderator position, or real-life experience.A portfolio is required for the production and shipping mod.Please ensure that all links provided are set to public and can be viewed.We will primarily be using Discord for communications, so it’s best if you have a Discord account!Below lists expectations for the finance, production and shipping roles. As it is possible to combine both the finance role and shipping role with production, we will be allowing applicants to state which role(s) they are interested in on the application form. Positions will be allocated based on what we feel like best suits the team.As we do not intend to look for someone to solely take on the role of production mod, being willing to contribute to more than one role may aid your application, but ultimately, we value your transparency over all else, so please only commit as much as your schedule and commitments allow you to!More will be explained in the form itself, so please make sure to review the form before asking any questions!
Finance Mod:
Prior experience as a finance mod or real-life experience is encouraged.Must be able to produce a working budget upon the conclusion of the interest check.Responsible for keeping track of and handling finances, helping with the shop set-up such as creating product listings, double checking bundle and shipping prices, opening and closing the shop.Must be able to produce financial statements for contributor review at the end of the project.Must provide frequent updates to the mod team during pre-orders.Will work closely with the shipping/production mod(s).
Production Mod:
Prior experience as Production and/or Shipping Mod or real-life experience is encouraged.Responsible for providing templates for all merch artists after finance mod comes up with finalised merch list, will be helping merch artists with file formats during our creation period should the need arise, as well as checking all merch files after the creation period ends.A portfolio is required for your application that showcases samples of merch you have produced/are able to produce.Should know of manufacturers and suppliers to produce the zine and merch, will be handling the ordering process after preorders conclude, and should be able to do so within a timely manner.Will work closely with Finance/Shipping Mod(s).
Shipping Mod:
Prior experience as Shipping Mod or real-life experience is encouraged.Responsible for receiving, packing and shipping bundles and merch.Responsible for working out the packaging logistics to ensure all bundles/items will be delivered cost-efficiently and safely.Will work closely with Finance/Production Mod(s).

CONTRIBUTOR APPLICATION GUIDELINES

If using a Google Drive folder, make sure that permissions are set to "Anyone with the link". (Tip: Try accessing your files in an incognito browser to check.)All applicants should only submit SFW samples.For artists, any NSFW in the portfolio should be hidden under a separate link, and should not be the first thing displayed in your portfolio. For writers, any NSFW pieces in your portfolio should be tagged appropriately.Applicants do not need to have previous zine experience, nor will this affect the mods’ decisions in any way. Contributors will be chosen based on skill and how well they fit the theme of the zine.Failure to adhere to any of the listed guidelines may result in a disqualification.
Artist and Merch Artists
Artists will be judged on anatomy, composition, lighting, environment, color theory, and grasp on personal style.Artists should submit a portfolio of 5-15 or more of their best works, quality being more important than quantity.If applying for page art, one sample must provide a full illustrated background (no flat colours, gradients, vectors, graphic design elements).If applying for merch art, examples of the type(s) of merch pieces you would prefer to create are encouraged.Applicants should have 5-15 pieces of work for a visual portfolio.Genshin Impact related samples are encouraged, but not required.All general application guidelines apply.
Writers
Writers will be judged on how well they can tell a story within a limited word count, grammar, syntax, flow, characterisation.Writer applications will have a maximum word count of 6k across three samples, with a leeway of 100 words total.One sample must be a Genshin Impact piece.One sample should be within 1.5k - 2k and completed (not an excerpt).Submissions of excerpts are allowed as long as the above rules are followed.Having pieces featuring Albedo, Kaeya or both among your three samples is largely encouraged but not compulsory.NSFW pieces are not allowed in your three samples. Any NSFW works in your portfolio (a portfolio website, AO3, Google Folder) should be tagged appropriately.All general application guidelines apply.
